The email hack this influential Instagram exec uses to save time The email hack this influential Instagram exec uses to save time For office workers around the world, responding to emails has become a major part of the job.   A report by technology market research firm The Radicati Group found that in 2018, “the total number of business and consumer emails sent and received per day will exceed 281 billion.”As correspondence goes digital, trying to reply to everyone can feel like an impossible task. Good thing Instagram’s head of fashion partnerships  Eva Chen has come up with a life hack to keep the continuous influx of messages at bay.You know how emails allow you to create customized signatures? Well, after Chen realized she sent similar messages all the time, she maximized that signatures tool to work to her advantage.“Basically, I have ten signatures saved on my email like, ‘Sorry I’m out of town I can’t make it,’ ‘I’ll be there,’ ‘CCing my admin to set up a meeting,’ etc. It makes a big difference,’ ” Chen told the Cut.For someone like Chen, who spends an hour or two on email even after returning home from work, the hack probably does save a lot of time. But even for those of us whose inboxes aren’t completely inundated, it’s a strategy that’s worth noting if we keep retyping the same thing.Chen also shared insights on work-life balance, and how she tries to encourage her team at Instagram to lead a healthy life.“I tell them to leave at like 5:00 p.m. to go to Barry’s or Soul Cycle, whatever,” Chen told the Cut. “If you want to take two hours, go to the gym and shower, and then go home and email for an hour and a half, do it if it’ll make you a better worker and make you happy.”
